Come, Follow Me—For Home and Church: Old Testament 2026

By Elder Russell M. Nelson Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles The wise use of your freedom to make your own decisions is crucial to your spiritual growth, now and for eternity.

By Ahmad S. Corbitt First Counselor in the Young Men General Presidency I am absolutely sure you youth can do this because of something about your identity and an enormous power within you.

God used prophets in the biblical times to relay His message and teach His children. Today, that same God is still calling prophets.

Jeremiah is smitten and put in the stocks—He prophesies that all Judah will be taken captive by Babylon.

Israel is as potter’s clay in the hands of the Lord—If nations repent, the Lord withholds the evil decreed against them—The people of Judah will be scattered.

The captivity of Judah comes because of sin and forsaking the Lord—Hallow the Sabbath day; doing so will save the people; otherwise they will be destroyed.

The utter ruin of Judah is foreseen—Israel is rejected and scattered for serving false gods—Fishers and hunters will gather Israel again, and the people will serve the Lord—The gospel is to be restored.

If the people of Judah repent, they will be preserved—The temple has become a den of robbers—The Lord rejects that generation of the people of Judah for their idolatries—They offer their children as sacrifices.

Israel and Judah defiled and polluted the land through wickedness—In the last days, the Lord will gather the people of Israel, one from a city and two from a family, and bring them to Zion.

The people of Judah forsook the Lord, the fountain of living waters—They worshipped idols and rejected the prophets.

Jeremiah was foreordained to be a prophet unto the nations—He is called as a mortal to declare the word of the Lord.

At first, Jeremiah didn’t think he would make a good prophet. “Behold, I cannot speak,” he protested (Jeremiah 1:6). But the Lord reassured him, “I have put my words in thy mouth” (verse 9). Jeremiah felt that he was an inexperienced “child” (verse 6), but the Lord explained that he was actually more prepared than he realized—he had been ordained to this calling even before he was born (see verse 5). So Jeremiah set aside his fears and accepted the call. He warned Jerusalem’s kings and priests that their pretended holiness would not save them. The “child” who thought he could not speak came to feel God’s word “in [his] heart as a burning fire” and could not be silent (Jeremiah 20:9). Jeremiah’s story is also your story. God knew you, too, before you were born and prepared you for your mission in life. Among other things, that mission includes something Jeremiah foresaw: gathering God’s people, one by one, to “bring [them] to Zion” (Jeremiah 3:14). And even if you don’t know exactly what to do or say, you can…

By President Russell M. Nelson The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is preparing the world for the day when “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord” (Isaiah 11:9).

Jesus announces that He is the Messiah prophesied by Isaiah, but is rejected by His neighbors in Nazareth.

By Elder Russell M. Nelson Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles How can you ensure that your behavior on the Sabbath will lead to joy and rejoicing?

Elder Ulisses Soares explains how all God’s children can be blessed through the law of the fast.

By President Henry B. Eyring First Counselor in the First Presidency Your fast offering will do more than help feed and clothe bodies. It will heal and change hearts.

At the Second Coming, Israel, as a nation, will be born in a day; the wicked will be destroyed; and the Gentiles will hear the gospel.

Ancient Israel was rejected for rejecting the Lord—The Lord’s people will rejoice and triumph during the Millennium.

The people of the Lord pray for the Second Coming and for the salvation that will then be theirs.

The Second Coming will be a day of vengeance and also the year of the redeemed of the Lord—Then the Saints will praise the Lord and acknowledge Him as their father.

In the last days, Israel will be gathered—Zion will be established—Her watchmen will teach about the Lord—The gospel standard will be lifted up—The people will be called holy, the redeemed of the Lord.

Isaiah speaks about the Messiah—The Messiah will have the Spirit, preach the gospel, and proclaim liberty—In the last days, the Lord will call His ministers and make an everlasting covenant with the people.

In the last days, Israel will rise again as a mighty nation—The gentile peoples will join with and serve Israel—Zion will be established—Finally, Israel will dwell in celestial splendor.

The people of Israel are separated from their God by iniquity—Their sins testify against them—The Messiah will intercede, come to Zion, and redeem the repentant.

The true law of the fast, with its purposes and attendant blessings, is set forth—The commandment to keep the Sabbath is given.

Early in His ministry, Jesus Christ visited a synagogue in Nazareth, where He was raised. He stood there to read from the scriptures, opened the book of Isaiah, and read what we now know as Isaiah 61:1–2. He then announced, “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” This was one of the Savior’s most straightforward declarations that He was the Anointed One, who would “heal the brokenhearted” and “preach deliverance to the captives” (see Luke 4:16–21). This scripture was indeed fulfilled on that day. And, like many other prophecies of Isaiah, it is also being fulfilled in our day. The Savior continues to heal the brokenhearted who come unto Him. There are still many captives who need deliverance. And there is a glorious future to prepare for—a time when the Lord will “create new heavens and a new earth” (Isaiah 65:17) and “cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations” (Isaiah 61:11). Reading Isaiah opens our eyes to what the Lord has already done, what He is doing, and what…

By Elder Patrick Kearon Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles Everything about the Father’s plan for His beloved children is designed to bring everyone home.

By President Dieter F. Uchtdorf Second Counselor in the First Presidency Just as the Good Shepherd finds His lost sheep, if you will only lift up your heart to the Savior of the world, He will find you.

Elder Clark G. Gilbert shares insights on how the Savior’s suffering can help us through life’s difficult situations.

By President Russell M. Nelson President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints The future will be glorious for those who are prepared and who continue to prepare to be instruments in the Lord’s hands.

When the righteous die, they enter into peace—Mercy is promised to the penitent—There is no peace for the wicked.

All who keep the commandments will be exalted—Other people will join Israel—The Lord will gather others to the house of Israel.

Come and drink; salvation is free—The Lord will make an everlasting covenant with Israel—Seek the Lord while He is near.

In the last days, Zion and her stakes will be established, and Israel will be gathered in mercy and tenderness—Israel will triumph—Compare 3 Nephi 22.

Isaiah speaks about the Messiah—His humiliation and sufferings are described—He makes His soul an offering for sin and makes intercession for the transgressors—Compare Mosiah 14.

In the last days, Zion will return, and Israel will be redeemed—The Messiah will deal prudently and be exalted.

In the last days, the Lord will comfort Zion and gather Israel—The redeemed will come to Zion amid great joy—Compare 2 Nephi 8.

Isaiah speaks as the Messiah—He will have the tongue of the learned—He will give His back to the smiters—He will not be confounded—Compare 2 Nephi 7.

Throughout his ministry, Isaiah spoke of a mighty deliverer. These prophecies would have been especially precious to the Israelites centuries later when they were in captivity in Babylon. Someone who could tear down the walls of Babylon would be a mighty conqueror indeed. But that isn’t the kind of Messiah that Isaiah described in chapters 52–53: “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him. … We did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted” (Isaiah 53:3–4). By sending such an unexpected deliverer, God taught us about true deliverance. To save us from oppression and affliction, God sent One who Himself “was oppressed, and … afflicted.” Where some expected a lion, He sent a lamb (see Isaiah 53:7). Surely, God’s ways are not our ways (see Isaiah 55:8–9). Jesus Christ frees us not by just opening the prison but by taking our place there. He relieves us from our chains of grief and sorrow by bearing them Himself (see Isaiah…

The refiner’s fire is not a comfortable place to be. It involves intense heat and repeated hammering. But it is in the refiner’s fire we are purified and prepared to meet God.

By Elder Patrick Kearon Of the Presidency of the Seventy Jesus has overcome the abuses of this world to give you power to not only survive but one day, through Him, to overcome and even conquer.

The Messiah will be a light to the Gentiles and will free the prisoners—Israel will be gathered with power in the last days—Kings will be the nursing fathers of Israel—Compare 1 Nephi 21.

The Lord reveals His purposes to Israel—Israel has been chosen in the furnace of affliction and is to depart from Babylon—Compare 1 Nephi 20.

Babylon and Chaldea will be destroyed for their iniquities—No one will save them.

Idols are not to be compared with the Lord—He alone is God and will save Israel.

Cyrus will free the captives of Israel from Babylon—Come unto Jehovah (Christ) and be saved—To Him every knee will bow and every tongue will take an oath.

The Lord’s Spirit will be poured out on the descendants of Israel—Idols of wood are as fuel for a fire—The Lord will gather, bless, and redeem Israel and rebuild Jerusalem.

To Israel the Lord says, I am your God; I will gather your descendants; beside me there is no Savior; you are my witnesses.
